Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his return to the Paris Saint-Germain line-up coming on as a second half substitute in the 2-0 win over Marseille on Sunday. The striker was sporting a blacked out version of the Nike Tiempo Legend V which have cleat fanatics asking whether this is a sign of bigger changes to come or just a more comfortable cleat to ease back into action.
The Swedish international is a regular in the Nike Mercurial Vapor X which raised eyebrows when he turned up in another silo for his return. For some there is an easy answer. The Tiempo provides more protection and comfort for just his foot. Zlatan has been out of action recently due to a heel injury.
Nike started to turn to the outspoken player as the focus of PR campaigns, most notably the ‘Dare to Zlatan’ campaign, earlier this year despite Sweden missing out on last summer’s World Cup in Brazil. He has been just as tough on Nike, however, as some of his former teammates. After being one of the faces of the new Nike Hypervenom, Zlatan quickly fell out of love with them and returned to his trusted Vapors.
The blacked out cleats last weekend have some saying this is a sign of a change on the horizon going so far as to indicate that Zlatan will be moving to Puma cleats in the near future.
Nike & #Ibrahimovic have reportedly ended commercial sponsorship. Puma most likely new sponsor for Zlatan, adding another “rebel” to family.

He would fit in nicely with the recent Puma ‘Forever Faster’ campaign focused on some of sports famous bad boys and girls.
We can only wait to see what comes next but hopefully it will be another head-turning launch and look for Zlatan.
