It is too late to bring good fortune (or a World Cup title) to your team this summer but the Brazilian Wish Bracelet is a traditional sign of hope and good luck which is being seen more and more on fans of the teams headed to South America.

The Brazilian Wish Bracelets or ‘Fitas do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia’ trace their origins back to 1792 and the Igreja Nosso Senhor do Bonfim church.  They are thought to bring good luck to those who wear them.

And they are one of the latest fashion trends.  The tradition has that when a person gets a wish bracelet they have someone else tie it on your wrist with 3 knots.  With each knot the wearer makes a wish and when the bracelet falls off naturally it is said the 3 wishes will come true.

The bracelets retail for $4.99 and are available in the colors of the teams headed to Brazil and are available at the World Soccer Shop.
