Special “Kit Recopa” will only be used once
La Liga club Valencia CF are quickly making use of their new deal with adidas, with a new home kit that commemorates one of the best moments in their history. The club today unveiled a special home kit that celebrates the 1979-80 European Cup Winners’ Cup team.
The 1979-80 European Cup Winners’ Cup Final was contested between Valencia and England’s Arsenal FC. The teams went to a penalty shootout after extra time ended stalemate, 0-0. The Spaniards would stop Arsenal 5-4 on penalties. The kit is similarly styled like the club’s kits from the 1970s and 80s, but with modern innovations, coming in a monochrome white. There is a classic v-neck collar, and older version of the bat badge at the heart of the shirt. A replica of the numbering used from the champions’ kit will be used on this special entry. Adidas’ logos and the sponsors, Jinko Solar at the chest and MSC Cruceros on the left sleeve are black.
This kit will only be used once, as Los Che faces Hong Kong Rangers, part of a triangle tournament in Hong Kong that also includes fellow La Liga club Villarreal CF. The kit will be a collector’s item, and will not be sold at any stores.
