The United States women’s national team will face familiar foes when they open their campaign to win a fourth consecutive Olympic Gold Medal.  The draw for the men’s and women’s competition was held at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.

The United States will face New Zealand, France and Colombia in Group G.  The Stars and Stripes faced France and Colombia during the group stage for the 2012 Olympics (winning the matches 4-2 and 3-0, respectively) and defeated New Zealand 2-0 in the quarterfinals of that Olympics.  The USWNT also faced the Football Ferns at the 2008 Olympics.
