Galaxy To Host Celeb Match

A number of top stars from the worlds of sport, film, music and television will converge on The Home Depot Center to give Galaxy fans the chance to see their favorite stars play their favorite sport.

Some of the celebrities scheduled to appear are stars from reality shows such as American Idol, The Bachelor and Laguna Beach, as well as judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli from Dancing with the Stars; film and television stars Julian Sands, Michael Sheen, and Anthony LaPaglia; TV personality Ross King; soap stars from General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and Days of Our Lives; music stars Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, and the Marley brothers; not to mention soccer legends Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, and Frank LeBoeuf. The event will celebrate all things British. Following the "Showbiz" soccer game, which begins at 4:30 p.m., fans will have the chance to see British bands I-94 and Delta Fiasco, as well as DJ Steve Smith, while also enjoying a wide array of food and drink specials that are catered to the typical British palette.

Season ticket holder gates will open at 4 p.m. with all other gates at The Home Depot Center opening at 4:15 p.m. The first 4,000 fans entering the stadium will receive the second of three Galaxy Collector Series T-Shirts that will be given away this season.

BritWeek, which is the brainchild of Nigel Lythgoe (American Idol), celebrates British influence in the Los Angeles entertainment industry, together with 50 years of the British Consul having permanent official residence here. As part BritWeek there will be a series of events and shows that focus on the British influence on entertainment, music, film, fashion and sports in Los Angeles and all of Southern California.
