While Real Salt Lake didn’t gain the full three points it had hoped for, Utah's MLS side managed to produce a point in front of a sellout crowd of 20,008 fans at its new home of Rio Tinto Stadium thanks to a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls.
The tie kept the two combatants even on MLS’ overall table on 36 points, with third-place Real Salt Lake now sitting two points better than FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids in the Western Conference standings – the two squads Real Salt Lake will finish the season with in its search for a first-ever postseason berth.
