Bradley Calls 19 For Argentina
2008-06-07 16:32:37

More than 70,000 tickets (buy tickets) have been sold for the USA’s final match at Giants Stadium, which will be presented by Visa®. The USA’s last match before the start of the World Cup qualifying campaign will be broadcast live on ESPN Classic and Galavision, and fans can follow along on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker.

Landon Donovan will once again hope to have the opportunity to earn his 100th cap for the United States. The USA’s all-time leading scorer, who is seeking to become the fourth-youngest male player in history to accomplish that feat, has been sidelined with a groin strain that forced him to miss the last two international matches against England and Spain.

Argentina currently sits in second place of CONMEBOL qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, collecting three victories while suffering one defeat through four matches. Following the match against the United States, the Argentines will play qualifiers against Colombia at home on June 14 and away in Brazil three days later. The world’s top team is coming off a comprehensive 4-1 victory against Mexico on June 4 in San Diego.

Soccer fans attending this Sunday’s USA vs. Argentina match are asked to car pool or take NJ Transit, as the number of parking spots at the Meadowlands Sports Complex has been reduced due to the construction of the new stadium, Meadowlands Xanadu, the rail line and Giants training facility. All fans are also encouraged to arrive early to avoid late traffic issues. Parking lots open at 2:30 p.m. and gates will open at 6 p.m. Kickoff for the game is at 7:30 p.m. For more specific information, click here.

The U.S. opens qualifying play for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in a Second Round series with Barbados that begins Sunday, June 15 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. (tickets). Kickoff for the first leg series is set for 2 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Galavision. The second leg will be played on June 22 in Barbados, with details still to be finalized.
