Barnhart Goes Under The Knife
2008-05-07 17:22:23

U.S. Women’s National Team goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart underwent an arthroscopic surgery this morning in Washington, D.C., to remove a loose body from her right knee.

The out-patient procedure, which was performed by D.C. United team physical Dr. Chris Annunziata, is deemed to be minor. There were no complications and Barnhart will begin rehabilitation immediately. She is expected to available for selection for the Peace Queen Cup tournament in South Korea that begins in early June.

Barnhart has played in four matches for the U.S. this year, including the championship game of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament where she saved Canada’s seventh penalty kick in the shootout to seal the victory.
