Under Armour continues to fine tune their soccer cleat line-up with the recent update to their control cleat, the Under Armour Clutchfit Force.  The Clutchfit Force 2.0 only included minor tweaks but they helped raise the level of the Baltimore-based brands control silo.

Under Armour Clutchfit Force 2.0 upper

The most noticeable feature of the Clutchfit Force 2.0, much like its predecessor, is the Travella synthetic upper. The cutouts once again cover the entire cleat but this edition features larger cutouts that are not as deep and more importantly the cutouts on the toe of the cleat feature ridges to provide additional control.

With Under Armour’s speed silo coming into its own over the past year, it appears that Under Armour wanted to firmly position this edition as a control cleat as it features a slightly wider upper (making it a great choice for players with a wider foot) along with a more padded tongue. The heel counter has been moved to the interior of the upper.

Once again the Clutchfit Force does a great job of keeping the player’s foot locked down inside the cleat.  The ClutchFit Force 2.0 uses a new insert made from a ridged Charged foam replacing the 4D foam of the original.  The solid grip can make the cleat difficult to put on but once the foot is in place the cleat provides great comfort and no movement when cutting or striking the ball.  The cleat fits true to size.

The Clutchfit Force 2.0 soleplate is unchanged from the original with PlasmaX construction, skeletal design, and the 8/4 stud configuration.

The Under Armour Clutchfit Force 2.0 lived up to expectations.  The updates clearly position this as a control cleat and admittedly the wider upper looked different from the earlier edition when first pulling the cleat on, once the focus turned to the game the comfortable fit and performance eliminated any concerns.

The cleat provided reliable control with the upper or when pulling the ball back with the bottom of the cleat.  The additional padding on the tongue did not interfere with control or power on shots.  Once the cleat was on it was barely noticeable.

Under Armour has done a great job of slowly establishing their line of top line soccer cleats.  This would be great choice for any soccer player looking for a reliable control silo soccer cleat.  And ideal for competitive and recreational players looking for great performance.
