U.S. Soccer Federation and Nike have unveiled today the special kit set to be worn by the U.S. Women’s National Team at the Olympics later this Summer. The USWNT has won four of the five women’s soccer Olympic gold medals and aim to be the first team to win one following a World Cup win.
Due to the tournament regulations, the US Soccer logo can’t be used, so a glossy USA lettering is placed over the heart with Light-Flex technology. The new design is clean white, using Vapor AeroSwift technology to insert platinum threads on the sleeves to create a nod to the glory and another coveted metal.
The side stripes create a dynamic look while in movement; the left stripe is blue, while the right one features red, and both of them connect with the same colors on the white shorts.
The white socks show a fading effect to blue, extending to the player’s cleats. The exclusive Women’s Spark Brilliance pack features blue, white an red colorways of the Mercurial Superfly V, Hypervenom Phantom II and Tiempo Legend 6 to complete a head-to-toe look.
The federation has also announced that the away kit will remain the same, replacing the US Soccer logo with the glossy USA lettering. The WNT will switch back to the current home kit at the conclusion of Rio 2016.
USWNT 2016 Olympics home jersey will be available at the end of July at World Soccer Shop.
