February 4: Man City’s Amazing Comeback

Ireland Euro 2012 Jersey

The FA Cup has always had its share of great matches but few can compare to the incredible comeback by Manchester City over Tottenham in 2004 on this day in soccer history.

City were completely out of the match after going to the break down 3-0 and having Joey Barton sent off for a second yellow card after the halftime whistle apparently for griping to the referee.

Get in the Gear of Manchester City.  The Sky Blues have a long history but with new money backing the club are currently winning their way through a golden era in club history. ---

But with 10-men Manchester City fought back to score four goals against the Kasey Keller and the Hotspur defense to advance with a 4-3 victory. The first match ended 1-1.

The Manchester City comeback is on YouTube.

With the win Manchester City set up a derby match against Manchester United Football Club but in this match the tables were reversed as a 10 man Red Devils jumped to a 3-0 lead and went on to win 4-2. The match hero for Manchester United was none other than American Abroad goalkeeper Tim Howard.

Manchester United went on to win the FA Cup that season.
