Following on from the release of the first “Silver Storm” colourway in the form of the brand new Hypervenom Phantom II, Nike have now lifted the wraps off of its remaining three cleats, the Tiempo, Magista and Mercurial.
The star of the show is, by all means, the brand new Hypervenom Phantom II. Designed for the agile attacking player, expect to see Neymar wearing this Wolf Grey/Orange/Black cleat in all its glory. This is a major upgrade for the silo first released two years ago and the first Nike cleat to combine a Flyknit Dynamic Fit Collar with an enhanced mesh upper. Elsewhere, the laces have been offset to allow for a larger strike zone, while the soleplate has been made from a softer compound than previously to increase comfort.
Set to be officially debuted by Andres Iniesta in this weekend’s Champions League Final, the Magista Obra Silver Storm comes in the form of a Wolf Grey/Hyper Turquoise/Black colourway. Following the general design principle of the pack, a predominantly “wolf grey” upper contrasted to brighter details, the turquoise really works for the Magista. Apart from Iniesta, expect to see Sergio Busquets and Paul Pogba (who’s already worn the cleat) wearing these in the Olympiastadion.
Next up is the explosive Mercurial line, championed by the Superfly. Officially dubbed as “Wolf Grey/Hyper Pink/Black”, the ribbed flyknit upper and the dynamic fit collar give the Superfly the edge look-wise when compared to the standard Mercurial Vapor. Though the cleat will not be well-represented during the Champions League final, expect to see a lot of it throughout this summer’s Copa America with Alexis Sanchez leading the charge.
Finally is the ever-present Tiempo. Though Nike’s heritage cleat, the Tiempo Legend V packs a punch in terms of technology and isn’t one to be underestimated. For the Silver Storm pack, Nike have given the Tiempo a green makeover. Combined with the Wolf Grey it makes for a clean looking cleat that the likes of Gerard Pique and Andrea Pirlo will slot into seamlessly.
All in all a strong end of season offering from Nike that looks set to light up Berlin’s Olympiastadion this coming weekend and pitches around Chile come June 11. All four Nike Silver Storm cleats will be available at WorldSoccerShop from June 2nd.
