Forget about the skull and crossbones logo or the fact that they are the anti-establishment ‘kult’ club of Germany, FC St Pauli is showing their softer gentler side.
The German Bundesliga 2 side is drawing attention to the plight of the honey bee population and have installed hives at the Millerntor Stadium and are selling honey from the club shop. Official jerseys, club caps, scarves and honey…who would have thought?
“Other cities have balconies to celebrate titles, and we have them for the bees,” club executive Andreas Rettig said.
The locally produced honey is named ‘Ewaldbienenhonig’ after their head coach Ewald Lienen.
