Sporting Kansas City unveiled their new 2015 third jersey today and will debut it on field this weekend when they play the Chicago Fire at Sporting Park on ESPN2. The jersey continues the argyle pattern used on the 3rd jersey the previous 2 seasons.
The monochromatic white with metallic silver detail jersey has a polo collar and the signature argyle pattern of the team’s third jersey across the chest as well as on the back of the uniform. The look is extended to the back of the socks as well to give the full kit a cohesive look.
“With the success of our previous third kit, we wanted to create the evolution of this look,” said John Moncke, Sporting KC’s Vice President of Stadium/Brand Revenue. “Our collection of kits are typically classic with a modern edge, but this look leans more on the modern side. Argyle has become an important brand element and we gave it a reflective metallic treatment. White and metallic silver are a very clean combination.”
The metallic silver does a great job of providing more depth to the white jersey. The details appear to the fans as either a light silver to a very dark silver depending on how the light is reflecting off the jersey. The silver metallic is used on the 3-Stripes on the top of the shoulders, the adidas and Sporting KC logos, the Ivy Funds sponsorship logo, as well as a wide stripe on each side of the waistline.
The wide metallic silver stripe is picked up on the cuffs of the shorts.
This is the 2nd jersey launch for the 2-time MLS Cup champions this season. They launched a new 2015 home jersey as part of the 3rd annual MLS Jersey Week that features a cool ‘window pane’ grid design.
The Sporting Kansas City 2015 Third Jersey will be available from World Soccer Shop on Monday, May 4.
