Sporting Kansas City, one of Major League Soccer’s original ten clubs, has a brand new home kit for the 2015 season. The two-time MLS Cup champions once known as the Kansas City Wizards will look to avenge their Knockout Round elimination by the New York Red Bulls in the MLS Playoffs in 2014. Wednesday’s SKC kit unveiling during Jersey Week is the latest in the team taking a more fashion-first approach on their kits, following up the very popular hooped kit from last season, and a black third kit that features an argyle pattern on the jersey.
The kit comes in Sporting blue with dark indigo features. The most distinguishing feature is the “window pane” design pattern, inspired from the Kansas-Missouri state line. The collar has a trendy indigo Henley style with a single button.
The back of the shirt has a 3D embossed monochrome secondary Sporting badge, in indigo under the collar.
The sleeves have indigo adidas three-stripe trim, with indigo cuffs. The new MLS is customized to Sporting’s colors of dark indigo, Sporting blue and white shield trim with dark indigo outline.
Sporting’s crest has a lenticular effect, with a shiny checkerboard pattern within the badge. The two stars from their MLS Cup victories sit atop the badge. The opposite side has an “Original Team” tab.
The hem of the shirt has a dark indigo stripe. IvyFunds returns as the shirt sponsor for Sporting. The kit comes complete with dark indigo shorts with Sporting blue trim, and Sporting blue socks with dark indigo trim.
Sporting Kansas City’s 2015/16 adidas home kit will be available at WorldSoccerShop.com and other fine retailers.
