Sport Club Recife unveiled their 2016 away jersey by technical sponsor in June. The Leão (Lion) debuted the jersey on-field last weekend in their 5-1 win over Chapecoense at Ilha do Retiro the Brazilian Championship.
The black jersey features a 3-tone red gradient chevron across the chest. The chevron serves as the background for the club badge over the heart and the adidas Performance logo in black. The red is symbolic of the strength of the lion’s roar highlighting the accomplishments of the club, the top team in the northeast of Brazil.
The v-neck collar has red trim on the front of the jersey with black trim on the back. The sleeve cuffs are red and black while the adidas 3-Stripes run down the side of the jersey under the arm.
“The allusion to the Lion’s roar is also intended to mark the ground in opposition territory, as it is the standard (jersey) used in most away games,” club’s director of marketing, Melina Amorim, said.
“With the official colors of the club, the new uniform brings the majesty of the immortal shell Sport Recife, symbol of pride for the fans,” André Vianna , Sports Marketing with adidas, added.
