Winger Chris Burke says he is focused on regaining his top fitness and doing his best not to think about his expiring contract.
The Rangers man has been out of action for four months with a bad ankle injury but is now on his way back after successfully surviving a reserve team fixture with St Johnstone.
While Burke is obviously aware that his contract expires next summer he says his only goal at the moment is to get back into the Ibrox first team and will worry about a new contract once he has achieved that.
Speaking to the Rangers News Burke told the publication: "The past four months have been frustrating when you take into account I missed the Uefa Cup final, the Scottish Cup final, the entire summer and the start of the season,
"So much has happened during that period but all I can do is look forward and put all my focus on getting back into the team.
"It is the last year of my contract but I am not trying to think about that too much right now as it can get on top of you.
"What's meant to be is meant to be and it's just unfortunate that I had to get my ankle surgery when I did.
"These things happen and I am not thinking about my contract situation too much, although I know I'll need to in the future.
"My main priority is to get my fitness and strength back and all I want is to get back in a blue jersey again."
