Celtic went down 1-0 to Cardiff City - who won the four-team tournament - in the Glasgow based club's second match of the Algarve Challenge Cup on Thursday.
With several players carrying injuries, Celtic boss Gordon Strachan named only 16 players in his squad.
Japanese midfielders Shunsuke Nakamura and Koki Mizuno were among those missing, while Aiden McGeady, Lee Naylor and Mark Wilson were also rested.
Celtic youngsters Paul McGowan and Paul Caddis were handed starts and impressed.
But midfielder Joe Ledley's fine first-half goal proved the difference as Cardiff finished with nine points.
