The Colorado Rapids finalized the first jersey sponsorship in team history last week when they announced that Ciao Telecom was signing a deal with the Major League Soccer Club. The deal runs through 2018 and will pay the Rapids roughly $2 million per year.
The sponsor branded jersey made its on-field debut in the Rapids 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on May 3. The global telecommunications company logo will also be worn on the alternate match jerseys, training, and travel gear.
“Partnering with a global company like Ciao is a massive step forward for our entire organization, one that will be felt by everyone connected to the Rapids, as well as soccer fans throughout the country,” said Tim Hinchey, President of the Colorado Rapids. “Ciao has a broad range of services that we can help them introduce in America, and we’re excited for a long and successful relationship. This truly is a historic moment for our club.”
The Dallas based Ciao also sponsors Italian Serie B side Reggina Calcio.
