Puma have unveiled the boots that its stars are set to wear at this summer’s World Cup, releasing the the wacky dual-coloured Tricks colourways.
With a blue left boot and a red right boot this is by far the weirdest World Cup colourway that we have seen so far! Puma are well aware of the unorthodox nature of the colourway and have said that it is meant to reflect the unshakeable confidence and belief of the professionals like Fabregas, Aguero and Reus that will be wearing the boots this summer.
The Tricks makeover has been given to Puma’s main boots, the EvoPower and the EvoSpeed, with both featuring the same colour blue/red combination. Coinciding with the release of the boots, Puma have launched their World Cup campaign ‘Start Believing’, a message conveyed in a short film directed to both players and fans alike.
Speaking about the rather unusual pair of boots that he is set to wear, Italy striker Mario Balotelli said he initially couldn’t believe what he was seeing: “I have to be honest, the first time I saw the Tricks boots, I thought the Puma guy was mad. But when I realised he wasn’t, I was excited. The evoPOWER looks cool in these special colours –it is definitely unique and in the end, it is exactly the reason why I chose to be with Puma. They dare to be different and everyone knows that I do as well.”
Sergio Aguero, who will go to the World Cup on a high after winning the Premier League with Manchester City was equally amused: “I am always happy to stand out on the pitch – usually I try to do so by scoring a goal, but why not play safe and wear an unusual pair of football boots? Jokes aside, I love my evoSPEED boots in these crazy colours and I cannot wait to go to Brazil, I really believe this will be a big moment for me.”
While the Tricks will primarily be showcased in Brasil this summer, the boots will first be on show during two big Cup finals. First the FA Cup Final, where Arsenal’s Puma contingent of Giroud, Cazorla, Rosicky and Sagna will be bringing a splash of colour to the Wembley pitch and then in the Champions League final on the feet of Gabi and Godin.
