Puma powered the New York Red Bulls Bradley Wright-Phillips to the 2014 MLS Golden Boot with the striker finishing strong with a brace in the final regular season match.  The double gave the Big Apple side a 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City and tied Wright-Phillips for the MLS all-time single-season goals scored record with 27 along with Roy Lassiter (1996) and Chris Wondolowski (2012).

After opening the season in the adidas adiZero, Wright-Phillips moved on to Puma cleats.  He pulled on a cleat from each of the silos, the evoSpeed, King, and evoPower, during his record equaling run. But the evoSpeed appears to have been his go-to cleat.

It is the first time an Englishman has won the MLS Golden Boot.  The former Manchester City youth academy graduate collected his goals over 32 games, 29 of them being starts.

Wright-Phillips also tied the single season MLS record for hat-tricks with 3.  He is the first player for the New York Red Bulls or the New York/New Jersey MetroStars to win the Golden Boot and is the new single season record holder for the club bettering Juan Pablo Angel’s 19 goals in 2007.

Puma cleats are available at the WorldSoccerShop and other fine soccer retailers.
