PUMA is well known for collaborating to create limited edition cleats and they are at it again with the Limited Edition PUMA King Alexander McQueen editions. 100 pairs of the 2 styles of the cleats were made but sadly none will be available for retail sale.
The Fish Skin is the showpiece cleat. The full leather cleat with fold over tongue is finished with a unique fish skin outer. The finished look has the appearance of fill scales and was inspired by the golden boots handed out annually to the top scorers in leagues and tournaments.
Only 30 pairs worldwide are being made of this cleat.
The 2nd style is more or an everyday cleat (if such a thing were possible with these artisan cleats). It is made of a burnished Italian brown leather. The look harks back to the early days of cleat making before flashy colors were introduced.
70 pairs of this cleat were made.
For those fortunate to find a pair of these cleats, they come with a commemorative book that looks into the history of the Puma King cleat as well as showing the inspirational process of Alexander McQueen in the development of the cleat.
For those readers in South Africa, the PUMA King Fish Skin is on display at the PUMA Select Store on 137 Bree Street in Cape Town. To enter to win you can visit the www.pumaselect.co.za.
