The Premier League knocked in 32 goals last weekend a record mark for the young season and the big trend for the matchday was the number of players opening their account.  20 players, 21 if you include the own goal by Aston Villa’s Aly Cissokho, opened their account on the weekend.

Papiss Cisse wasted no time in getting his account up and running.  The Senegalese striker came on in the second half and scored a brace in the new Atomic Orange colorway of the Nike Hypervenom Phantom to help Newcastle share the points with Hull City. He broke with the IFAB censorship of t-shirt messages by dedicating his goals to Jonas Gutierrez, who was diagnosed last week with testicular cancer, with the message ‘Always Looking Forward Jonas’ under his jersey.

It was not the latest look for all the players opening their accounts, however.  Niko Kranjcar was wearing the adidas NitroCharge Battlepack Queens Park Rangers 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

And Esteban Cambiasso is sticking with his Adidas NitroCharge in the Blue Beauty/Running White colorway.  The Italian scored the 3rd goal in Leicester City’s impressive 5-3 win over Manchester United.

It should come as no surprise that Manchester United’s Robin van Persie is not giving up on an older colorway from the Earthpack collection released prior to the 2014 World Cup.

The other players opening their accounts were: Winston Reid, Diafra Sakho, and Morgan Amalfitano for West Ham, Victor Wanyama for Southampton, Arsenal newboy Danny Welbeck as well as Mesut Ozil, Steven Caulker for QPR, Stoke City’s Peter Crouch, Manchester City’s Frank Lampard, Everton’s Leighton Baines, Crystal Palace’s Jedinak Mile and Frazier Campbell, James Morrison of West Bromwich Albion, and Jamie Vardy and David Nugent of Leicester City.

The in-form player of the moment is Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa in his adidas Predators. The Argentinean striker scored a brace in the win against the Red Devils giving him a goal in each of the last 3 matches and 4 of the last 5.  He currently is in second on the Premier League Golden Boot Table with 5 goals.

4 additional players are finding their form with goals in back-to-back games.  They are Angel DiMaria and Ander Herrera 2 bright spots for the struggling Manchester United side, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, and Hull City’s Mohamed Diame.

The other goalscorers last weekend were: Nikica Jelavic of Hull City, Mame Biram Diouf for Stoke, Andreas Schurrle for Chelsea, and Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling.

Diego Costa failed to score for the first time of the season but is still on top of the EPL Golden Boot Table with 7 goals followed by Ulloa’s 5 goals.  There are 7 players tied on 3 goals.

Nike is starting to pull away on the Goals by Brand table with 66 goals thus far.  Adidas is in second with 57 goals although the adiZero F50 continues to lead the way among all silos with 25 goals.  Puma has scored 8 goals and Warrior has added 2.
