It’s one of the most exciting times on the football calendar – pre-season. For us boot fans, pre-season gives us a chance to get a glimpse at the latest boots on offer, and today we have the best boot spots from this past week’s action.

Jimmy Medranda – adidas NitroCharge Next-Gen

An unlikely figure, Jimmy Medranda, gave us our first glimpse at the next generation adidas NitroCharge that is slated for release next month. While unfortunately not many images of Medranda were taken throughout Sporting KC’s match against Manchester City, the shots that we found indicate that the new NitroCharge will have a larger EnergySling than the original.

Thierry Henry – Puma EvoSpeed

Not that we needed any further indication that Thierry Henry will always be a Gunner at heart, but the now New York Red Bulls man wore the special edition, Arsenal-inspired, EvoSpeed 1.3 colourway as he played against his old side. While Puma said that the Tricks themed red and white design was going to be worn exclusively by Arsenal players, the leniency in the case of Henry is totally understandable.

Cesc Fabregas – Puma EvoPower

No such loyalty from Cesc Fabregas. The former Arsenal captain, now Chelsea player has understandably gone with Puma’s more neutral offering for the EvoPower in the form of the new fluorescent yellow colourway. While this marks a return to a more conventional style following Puma’s stint with its Tricks line of boots in the World Cup, this is nonetheless an eye-catching colourway.

Ivan Rakitic – adidas Predator Instinct

Barcelona new boy Ivan Rakitic was spotted in the solar blue/white/black adidas Predator Instinct colourway during one of his first training sessions. One of Sevilla’s star men last season, as evidenced by the fact he was recognized as the Man of the Match in last season’s Europa League Final, Rakitic will be hoping for a good season after a disappointing World Cup.

Juan Bernat – adidas F50 adiZero

Another player fresh off of a big transfer is Juan Bernat. The 21 year old signed for Bayern from Valencia and was spotted in the super bright adiZero Neon-Pink. Set to be worn by most of adidas’ top adiZero men this latest colourway is one of the boldest colourways we have seen for the speed boot thus far.

Javi Martinez – adidas NitroCharge 1.0

Despite the fact adidas are said to be releasing the next-generation NitroCharge in August, the NitroCharge 1.0 still received a new season update as worn by Javi Martinez. The black/white/neon orange colourway features the Battle Pack pattern that was everywhere during the World Cup.

Gareth Bale – adidas F50 adiZero

We say most big adiZero men will be wearing the neon pink colourway because one big name in particular, so far, has not switched into it. Gareth Bale, who presumably must be raring to go after not featuring in the World Cup, has remained in the adiZero released back in April as part of the Earth Pack. Could it be that adidas have something special up for Bale ahead of the new season?

Mario Balotelli – Puma EvoSpeed

Mario Balotelli had an underwhelming World Cup, to say the least, as Italy crashed out at the end of the group stages. Despite a bad tournament the enigmatic AC Milan man has stuck with the Puma EvoSpeed Tricks released for the World Cup. Puma have since launched the EvoSpeed 1.3, making his not switching all the more strange.

That concludes this week’s Cleat Spotting. Keep your eye’s peeled this week for players and their latest boots!
