The Portland Timbers will begin their 2016 in defense of their first-ever league title in club history in the 2015 MLS Cup. Portland have also unveiled a new Rose City-inspired secondary jersey, courtesy of league-wide sponsor adidas.
Keeping up appearances with the previous Timbers secondary jersey, this new entry is in black with multiple shades of red, including Rose City Red. The sleeves are a solid black, as the red three-stripe trim can be seen as side piping. The backside will come in plain red.
The neckline and back neck of the jersey’s v-neck collar features one of the club’s main chants, with “No Pity” on the back neck.
The inner collar completes the chant with “In The Rose City” in red text over a black backdrop, with the neck stripe featuring a barbed wire pattern.
Portland earned the MLS Cup last season after a victory over Columbus Crew SC in the final, and have a golden star over a metallic black and red Timbers crest. The golden star will be on every Portland Timbers kit.
The design on the jersey has a vibrant gradient pattern with multiple shades of red horizontal stripes with a thorn pattern.
The jock tag at the bottom of the shirt has the “Stand Together” axes in black and red with a metallic effect. An American flag is on the other side, across from the axes.
The kit will come complete with black and red or red and black shorts, Alaska Airlines returns as the shirt sponsor, with an updated logo.
The 2016 Portland Timbers away jersey will be available soon at WorldSoccerShop.com.
