Andrea Pirlo, New York City FC’s 3rd Designated Player, was official introduced to the media at an event in downtown Manhattan. The ceremony provided a great photo op for head coach Jason Kreis to hand the former Juventus and Italy national team midfielder his #21 jersey.

But then it was off to business at hand, training. The 36-year-old first surprised some local players at a youth soccer camp at Pier 40 before joining his teammates on the field for the first time.
“Everything is new,” he told a reporter. “This is so amazing. I’m feeling well. The only thing that is left to do is to get the right condition.”

NYCFC face Orlando City on Sunday but there is still speculation whether Pirlo will make his debut with the Italian saying ‘we’re taking it day by day’ on his status for the match at Yankee Stadium.
