Olympique Gymnaste Club Nice paid tribute to the 85 victims of the Bastille Day terror attacks on Nice’s Promenade des Anglais with a special edition jersey in their match against Stade Rennes last weekend. The club will have a special tribute on the stadium big screen at the 85th minute of each home game.
A white special edition jersey will replace the traditional red/black home jersey and feature the names of the 85 victims written in a heart-shape on the center of the chest replacing the club’s jersey sponsor logo. The club’s other sponsor logos were also removed from the jersey. The jerseys were auctioned after the match.
Rennes replaced their sponsor logo with the heart-shaped design as well.

The club also was holding a moment of silence as the players entered the stadium and were releasing 85 white balloons. Spectators were asked to wear white as well.
“An individual tribute will be paid to each of the 85 victims,” Nice said in a statement on Tuesday, with their names read aloud while young players from the club release white balloons.
