It is not scheduled to be unveiled until Tuesday, March 6 and won’t hit the field until May but the new Nike cleat, the Magista, is getting high praise from top players.  ‘Unbeliveable’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Futuristic’, and ‘It’s a true revolution’ are some of the things being said about the cleat.

What is all the hype about…it’s just a soccer cleat.

Well not really.  The cleat is rumored to be made with Nike’s Flyknit technology and is designed to look and fit more like a sock than a traditional shoe.  The advantage is that it will allow players greater touch on the ball.

Nike has gone to extreme lengths to keep this new silo under-wraps but it is believe a blacked-out proto-type was seen with Andres Iniesta and Pedroat Barcelona training earlier in the year. The proto-type has a high-top design while leaked images of the cleat that will be available does not have this feature.

magista_LogoThe Magista will replace the Nike CTR360 silo.  The top version will be called the Nike Magista Obra while the next level will be the Nike Magista Opus.

Barcelona midfield maestro Iniesta and striker Pedro, Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze, Paris St-Germain defender Thiago Silva, Atletico Madrid captain Ardan Turan, Tottenham’s starlet Christian Eriksen, Chelsea’s David Luiz, Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho.  We can only imagine if the cleat lives up to expectations many more players will be lining up to pull a pair on.
