Paris Saint-Germain, for the past two seasons, have been the team to beat in France. What started in the 2012-13 season as new signings such as Ezquiel Lavezzi, Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic paving the way to many victories for the Capital Club, ultimately earning their first league title since 1994, was amplified this past season with a double.
New signings like striker Edinson Cavani and midfielder Yohan Cabaye aided PSG to a successful defense of the Ligue 1 crown, and the Coupe de la Ligue over Lyon. Now, the premier club from the City of Lights will have a new sophisticated Nike home strip for its stars to wear.
The new PSG primary has a trendy, simplified version of their trademark look; a red vertical band with white edges over navy blue. This new design, a red and white stripe in the middle of the jersey, even extending to the back of the shirt, is the latest in Nike’s innovative styles with the Parisien club’s strips. The navy kit also has a darker shade serving as background band for the center stripe. Within the v-neck collar, the white pennant tab has PSG’s signature message: “Ici C’est Paris,” “This is Paris.” The shorts are a clean navy, with the socks having Paris under the swoosh and chevrons on the back. Fly Emirates returns as the main sponsor for Paris SG.
The kit was unveiled as part of Nike’s animated teaser, the latest in its’ #riskeverything campaign with a computer animated version of Zlatan Ibrahimovic showing off his acrobatics. With the news that even more star players like Brazilian defender David Luiz heading to the Parc des Princes, more trophies could be heading to France’s capital city.
