Nike is stepping up their offensive when it comes to small-sided games by unveiling the Nike FootbalLX collection. The collection includes the MercurialX and MagistaX shoes which draw on the flyknit technology used on some of the best-selling outdoor cleats.
NikeFootballX merges Nike’s pinnacle boot technology with design elements unique to small-sided football,” Max Blau, VP Nike Football Footwear, explained. “We’ve met with small-sided players all over the world and they want the same performance benefits Magista and Mercurial provide, but with outsoles and colorways unique to their game.”
The new shoes are inspired by the outdoor game but made specific for small-sided play. The upper utilizes the flyknit technology while the sole is made from recycled Nike Grind rubber. Additional cushioning has been included to allow for the harder surfaces played on in small-sided games.
The MagistaX is geared for the team playmaker. It includes a Lunarlon midsole for improved control and touch.
The MercurialX is about speed and has a lower profile Phylon cushioned outsole. Both shoes are available for indoor court (IC) and turf fields (TF).
