Fresh off of the Gunner’s FA Cup victory, Nike made a quick move to mark the end of their successful 20 year partnership.
Starting next season, Arsenal will move to Puma, who signed a record-breaking deal to secure the Gunners as one of the top teams in their growing football portfolio. But before then, Nike took the chance to leave fans with one last taste of what their partnership meant for both sides.
The American brand said goodbye to Arsenal by releasing this unique kit design composed by a selection of iconic Arsenal kits designed by the Swoosh throughout their two decades together. Each Nike shirt included in this design tells the story of key moments in the team’s history. For example, the kit includes the 2003-04 Home Kit remembered for the ‘Invincibles’ season, the celebratory red currant shirt that signified the farewell to Highbury in 2005, and some unforgettable away kit designs that will always be remembered by Arsenal fans.
“Nike has enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Arsenal Football Club. The kits that Nike has produced for the Club over the last twenty years tell a story; a timeline of quality that will be remembered for a long time to come,” said Marc van Pappelendam, VP/GM Nike UK & Ireland.
This shirt is obviously not mean to be worn on the pitch, but a limited run will be produced for retail at the Nike Phenomenal House at the Sorting Office. From May 26 to the 31st, the shirt will be displayed at the Pheneomnal House in London, then at NikeTown London for all of June before being permanently moved to the Arsenal Football Club Museum.
