Nike has signaled the start of the new season with the launch of its latest line of boots, the Lighting Storm Pack.

Featuring new colourways for all four silos – the Hypervenom II, the Mercurial line, the Magista and the Tiempo V – the Lightning Storm pack represents a flashy, though simplistic, start to the season.

The first of the four, the Lighting Storm Mercurial, comes in a no-holds barred Hyper Pink with black detailing. Set to be worn by some of Europe’s most explosive players, including Alexis Sanchez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, this latest Mercurial is not for the faint of heart. Perhaps the most explosive of them all, Cristiano Ronaldo, is also a Mercurial man though we have to wait and see if he switches into these or is given his own signature colourway.

Headlined by Neymar Jr., the new Hypervenom II comes in an equally bold Green Strike along with a Total orange version. The newest of Nike’s boots, the Hypervenom II was first released back in May and has built off of the success of its predecessor. Designed for the modern striker, it features Nike’s trademark Dynamic Fit Collar, an enhanced mesh upper and a soleplate designed especially for improved agility.

The boot that kicked off the current direction Nike’s heading in, the Magista Obra, has been given a Turquoise Blue makeover. The eagle eyed will have noticed that, as with the Mercurial and Tiempo, Nike have simply promoted the secondary colour of last season’s Silver Storm Hypervenom. The Magista caused a storm in the boot world when it was released in 2014, in large part thanks to the, never before seen, Dynamic Fit Collar and its unique FlyKnit upper. Since then it’s become the go-to cleat for playmakers such as Andres Iniesta and Mario Gotze.

Much like the Hypervenom, the, somewhat more traditional, Tiempo Legend V starts off the season in Green Strike. Though somewhat for the purists, the Legend V holds its own technology wise. Expect to see this colourway on the feet of Andrea Pirlo come his much-anticipated MLS debut with New York City FC.

The Lightning Storm pack will begin making its mark on pitches across the world from the 23rd of July. All of these colourways will be available at WorldSoccerShop.
