The highlight of the new NJR x JORDAN collection are the new Hypervenom cleats that the Brazilian star will wear in Rio 2016. Their sleek design is inspired by the Jordan V, Neymar’s personal favorites.
“The Jordan V is very iconic and has the fighter jet shark teeth on the front,” explains Nathan VanHook, Nike Soccer Sr. Design Director, “and the Hypervenom II that Neymar Jr. wears has an almost modernized version of that feature, so we took those elements and put them together.”
Per Neymar’s request, Jordan’s number 23 will be placed on the right shoe, while his number 10 will adorn the left one. A reflective Swoosh on the upper reinterpretes the Jordan V reflective tongue, and the iconic cement print is present on the soleplate.
The Jumpman logo makes multiple appearances, on the heel, soleplate and a special lock-up with Neymar’s logo on the sockliner. The initials of Neymar’s son (“DL”) an the central icon of the Brazilian flag are featured on the laces.
The NJR x JORDAN collection features the aforementioned Hypervenom elite cleats, a special Neymar Edition of the Jordan V Low, indoor shoes, a t-shirt, an Ordem 3 ball and two exclusive pieces of Brazil Soccer training gear.
“Michael Jordan set the standard for greatness,” says Neymar Jr. “He’s an incredible competitor and a champion. I’ve always admired him, so to collaborate with him and have his icon on my boots means a great deal to me.”
“I’m excited that Neymar and the Jordan Brand are working together,” said Michael Jordan. “I’m a fan of his creativity, style and passion for the game of soccer. He’s a special player and I look forward to this collaboration.”
