With the 2014 World Cup just around the corner, Nike plans to release a short animated film called “Last Game” that challenges players to compete at their best.

The film, created by Nike, Widen + Kennedy and Passion Pictures; tells the story of a world where football has been stripped of risk and beauty, and only the world’s greatest players of the sport have a chance to stop the game from extinction. The movie is being promoted through Nike’s latest football campaign “Risk Everything.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, the star forward for Spanish club Real Madrid, showed off a short clip of his “animated self” trapping a ball on the edge of the area as hundreds of mysterious opponents converged.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, striker for French club Paris Saint-Germain, posted a clip of his own animated character that showed both Wayne Rooney and Franck Ribery setting the animated Zlatan up for a scissor-kick that looked destined for the top corner.

Be prepared for Nike’s “Last Game” animated film that will debut exclusively June 9 at 5pm on Nike.com/riskeverything. “This film captures the true heart and soul of football: risk everything, create brilliantly, and play to win always” said Davide Grasso, Chief Marketing Officer for Nike.
