Quakes get the green light as stadium protest denied

The San Jose Planning Commission on Wednesday dismissed the final bureaucratic hurdle holding up construction of the Earthquakes’ proposed new million stadium, denying an appeal to push back construction.

The appeal, brought by a resident in January, cited noise and light concerns. The Commission voted unanimously to deny the appeal, leaving the Quakes with all the paperwork in hand necessary to build an 18,000-seat stadium on 14 acres of land just across the street from San Jose International Airport
