Madrid extend lead in Spain

Real Madrid moved 13 points clear at the top of the Primera Division with a 4-0 win over Racing Santander at the Bernabeu on Saturday evening.

Benzema: Bagged brace for Real

Cristiano Ronaldo set Real on their way when he headed home from close range after just six minutes.

Racing were reduced to ten men when Domingo Cisma was sent off on 39 minutes for a second bookable offence and Real doubled the lead right on the stroke of half-time when Karim Benzema poked home.

Angel Di Maria marked his return from injury with a superb third goal 17 minutes from time and Benzema made it 4-0 late on with a deflected shot to keep Jose Mourinho's men on course for the title.

Getafe and Espanyol shared the spoils after an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Alfonso Perez Coliseum.

Espanyol finished the game with ten men after Ernesto Galan was red carded nine minutes from time, but they held on for a point.

Michel celebrated his first win in charge of Sevilla after a 2-0 success over Osasuna at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Gary Medel broke the deadlock for Sevilla on 16 minutes and substitute Piotr Trochowski sealed the win with a second goal deep into stoppage-time.
