Former Leeds boss Simon Grayson has been handed the managerial reins at League One outfit Huddersfield on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Grayson: New man at Huddersfield helm

The Terriers controversially sacked Lee Clark last week, despite lying fourth in the table.

Grayson began his management career at Blackpool and steered them to promotion before going on to replace Gary McAllister at Elland Road in December 2008.

The 42-year-old helped Leeds to promotion into the Championship in his first full season and finished seventh in the next campaign.

Chairman Ken Bates dismissed him following the 4-1 defeat at home to promotion rivals Birmingham City on 31 January with Neil Warnock recently named his successor.

Grayson will be joined at Town by Glynn Snodin and Ian Miller, his coaching team at Leeds but he will have his work cut out.

After losing last season's League One play-off final, Terriers' chairman Dean Hoyle told Clark he had to steer the club to automatic promotion this season.
