CF Monterrey has garnered a reputation recently for being one of the most accomplished sides not only in Mexico, but in North America. Los Rayados (The Striped Ones) will look to stay at the top of Liga MX with a pair of new jerseys supplied by PUMA. Success is a word synonymous with Monterrey’s loyal fanbase to describe their club. The latest jerseys released in time for the Liga MX Apertura 2016 stage aim to prove they’ll look just as good as they play.
The club’s familiar home jersey has a more moderate approach to the white and navy stripes, but a bright red trim serves as an excellent addition for this home jersey. The collar has a classic look, with a white v-neck front with traditional navy folds. The shoulders have a solid navy stripe with red trim. The navy stripes at the front don’t connect all the way, as they’re cut off at the center to make space for the sponsors. The stripes have also adopted a painted effect for this season, based from an older Monterrey jersey in the 90s.
The back of the jersey has the stripes cut off to make way for the player name and numbers.
Monterrey’s shorts and socks combo is also a very pleasant combination. Navy shorts with red trim and red socks create this very appealing tri-color look.
The away jersey has navy and silver with white trim. The collar ditches the vintage flaps for a more standard v-neck look, in navy and silver. The shoulders and sleeves have a silver stripe, with matching sleeve cuffs. Just like on the home jersey, the third color can only be seen on the shoulders, but unlike the home jersey, the white trim is more like an extension of the silver panels rather than standing out on its own. The main design in the front has tonal blue swirls, an ode to the exterior shape of the club’s new home Estadio BBVA Bancomer.
The back of the jersey is a solid navy, save for the two sponsors.
Monterrey’s away arrives with silver shorts with navy blue trim, with navy socks with silver top stripe.
The shirt sponsors are numerous for Monterrey. In front, main sponsor BBVA Bancomer with Hagamoslo Bien, a new sponsor. Berel at the left sleeve, The Home Depot at the right, and on the back Tecate Beer and H-E-B. Both jerseys also have the message “En la vida y en la cancha (In life and the pitch)” in the inner collar.
The 2016/17 Monterrey home and away jerseys will be available soon at World Soccer Shop.
