The veteran forward has mutually agreed with coach John Carver that a trade would be best after being demoted to the reserve team and three MLS clubs have shown interest in the player, but Johnston believes a fast form revival could completely alter the picture.

With only three tallies on the season, Cunningham for now remains stuck on 99 career league goals.

"Jeff can turn this whole thing around," he told the Toronto Star. "Get back on the field and score goals."

"He's dropped a little bit in form, (but) he can get that back - you don't become a bad player overnight."
