Galaxy star David Beckham believes the arrival of coach Ruud Gullit can help turn the two-time playoff outsiders into viable title contenders this season.

The England ace knows the team have something to prove so that their record is commensurate with their notoriety.

"It is a fresh start with a new manager, a new regime and a new togetherness," Beckham told reporters.

"Many things have already changed, definitely for the good, and we want to build momentum and start winning things."
