According to his rep, Erstwhile Napoli prospect Vincenzo Bernardo is set to embark on at least one Major League Soccer trial in January in hopes of landing a new club.
The 19-year old small forward, who opted out of his Serie A youth deal to seek out first team soccer, has brushed aside audition offers in Belgium, England and Greece to try things out back home.
Bernardo and his handlers are staying mum on which MLS clubs are inviting, but it is clear that finding a good fit could stop the player's search on a dime.
"He had offers to train with some clubs in Europe and MLS," Steve Georgiou told Soccer365. "And he has decided to train with some MLS clubs."
"So far, we have a couple of offers. However, if things go well, it may turn out to be just the one!"
"The plan is to start training/trialing in late January," added Georgiou. "We are also reviewing other offers to train around the same kind of dates."
Bernardo, who trialed with English Championship side Watford last month, will require no special claim or allocation to sign with any MLS club.
Previous speculation has linked the U.S. Under-20 international with both the New York Red Bulls and the expansion Philadelphia Union, the two closest outfits to his native New Jersey.
