Major League Soccer is working to make the fans feel more a part of the team and announced today that season ticket holders will have the opportunity to put their picture on the jersey numbers.  These numbers, made by Spanish company Playing2, will be used in matches in August 2015.

The individual clubs will decide on the details but for those fans who are eligible to be a part of the team’s official number all they will have to do is visit the club’s website, select the number they want their mug-shot to be included on, and the location on the number to smile back.  The system works similar to how customers select seats on an airline.

This is not the first time this promotion has been used.  Real Madrid had a fan tribute jersey years ago. Atlectico Madrid and the Mexican national team have done a similar one as well.
