Lionel Messi broke the 87-year-old Barcelona scoring record with his hat-trick in the 7-0 rout of Osasuna on March 16.  The goal outburst gave the Argentine 371 for the Blaugrana in all competitions bettering the mark of 369 set by Paulino Alcantara from 1912 through 1927.

Messi_CL_Feb17The easy to spot rainbow colorway of the adidas adiZero F50 Leo Messi Signature was on pitch to set the record and went to work the following week to set another record.

Messi scored another hat-trick in Barcelona’s 4-3 win over Real Madrid in the Clasico to become the Clasico’s all-time leading scorer with 21 goals.  He beat the previous record of 19 goals held by Real’s Alfredo Di Stefano.

adidas designed a special cleat for Messi’s 370th goal and the forward pulled it on for the match against Celta de Vigo last weekend.  The limited edition cleat only knocked in 1 goal in the 3-0 win but made a mark with what should be a rare sighting of the cleat in action.

The limited edition cleat sold out in hours at most of the retailers given the opportunity to sell the cleat.  Only 370 pairs of the cleat were made with a price tag of…you guessed it $370.00.

World Soccer Shop had a couple of pairs and Soccer365 was fortunate to get a glimpse of these cleats up-close.  Check them out.

Messi_370_3The adidas adiZero F50 has a reflective silver upper with the right cleat having a blue shiny detailing circles of varying sizes and the left with red detailing.  Messi’s #10 is on the instep of the right cleat while his son’s name, Thiago, and birthdate is on the instep of the left cleat. The number of the cleat is on the outstep of both cleats.
