A new era has begun for Manchester City with fans and players alike being a crucial part of it. The club and Nike have revealed their new third jersey with some Citizen fans taking centre along with players John Stones and Leroy Sané; the unveiling highlights the club’s new way of seeing themselves as they try to take a place among Europe’s best.
“The team is excited to play under the manager (Pep Guardiola) and works to execute everything he tells us,” says Sané about the concept that inspired the jersey reveal. “The competition in training is at the right level and we have fun as well. Everyone is enjoying it.”
The new City alternative shirt showcases a bold design with a gradient effect combining orange and violet. The design is continued in the shorts and socks, which feature white and orange detailing. Violet has been used by the club in a few occasions, first in 1992 and more recently in the 2014/15 season.
Orange shoulders frame the body design, while the word ‘CITY’ appears on the back of the v-cut collar. Manchester City new badge is featured over the heart, accompanied by white Nike and Etihad Airways logos.
The jersey will feature all the innovations from Nike’s Aeroswift technology, a knit-based development that makes soccer gear lighter, more flexible and keeps players cooler. Fans can also obtain the classic DriFit version, with different materials that are more suitable for the day to day use.
This new kit is set to be used in domestic and international cups, with the club expecting to shine brightly in the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League.
Manchester City 2016/17 Third Jersey will be available on September 22nd at World Soccer Shop.
