The blue side of Manchester is quickly establishing themselves as a global brand and they announced a 5-year reportedly $34.15 million per year deal with Nissan on Thursday. It is the first global sponsor for the Premier League champions.
The deal will not replace Etihad Airways on the front of the Citizens jersey, however. The only jersey branding in the plans at the moment is for it to be on the back of the Manchester City women’s jersey.
The terms grants Nissan brand presence at the Etihad Stadium and on City’s digital platforms. It also extends to the larger City Football Group that includes Major League Soccer side New York City FC which will begin play in 2015, Australia A-League side Melbourne City, and J-League’s Yokohama F Marinos. Nissan is currently the main jersey sponsor for the Yokohama team.
