Carli Lloyd and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernanez took home CONCACAF’s top individual honor for 2015 winning the 2015 Female and Make Player of the Year awards, respectively, at the annual banquet last Friday in Miami.  It was a sweep for the United States in the goalkeeping category with Tim Howard and Hope Solo claiming the awards.

Lloyd was no surprise after winning the 2015 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year award earlier this month.  The 33-year-old become the first woman to score a hat-trick in a Women’s World Cup final as she led the Stars and Stripes to their first world title since 1999.  She finished the tournament as the Golden Ball winner.

Lloyd also won the CONCACAF Goal of the Year.  Her strike from midfield in the 16th minute completed her hat-trick, put the USWNT in control of the final, and left even non-soccer fans with their jaws dropped.

Hernandez scored the opening goal in Mexico’s 3-2 win over the United States in the CONCACAF Cup.  The win earned El Tri Colores a spot in next year’s FIFA Confederations Cup.

Howard and Solo each took top honors in the goalkeeping category while USWNT head coach Jill Ellis was named the 2015 CONCACAF Women’s Coach of the Year.  Like Lloyd, Ellis also won the 2015 FIFA Women’s Coach of the Year award.

The Portland Timbers Caleb Porter finished 2nd in the voting for Men’s Coach of the Year.
