Liverpool unveiled their 2014/15 home kit in Liverpool’s city center today. Philipe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Simon Mignolet and Kolo Toure did the honors coming out of the smoke-filled #DEMAND container that has been placed there a few days earlier.
The jersey keeps the updated Liver bird and L.F.C. in gold as the focal point but returns to the more traditional white detailing on a solid red jersey for the other accents. This is most notable in the Standard Charter sponsorship logo printed in white.
The white detailing around the neck gives the crew collar a more modern look along with the white piping down the side of the sleeves and on the sleeve cuffs.
The 2 embroidered Eternal Flames and ‘96’ logo is once again on the back of the collar. The logo commemorates the events at Hillsborough on April 15, 1989 when 96 Liverpool fans died before the FA Cup semifinal against Nottingham Forest.
The jersey is made out of the Warrior War-Tech fabric and includes strategically placed 4-way stretch mesh panels. The fabric features a subtle geometric LFC jacquard weave.
The overall look is much more classic Liverpool and was inspired by the great Bill Shankly teams of the 1960’s and early 1970’s.
The full kit is completed with red shorts and red socks.
The home kit is the most classic jersey since Warrior took over from adidas in 2012. The U.S. brand stepped out some with the goalkeeper jersey. The purple jersey and socks features black detailing and is paired with black shorts.
What do you think about the new Liverpool kit? Is it better than last year’s model? How about the GK jersey?
