In celebration of Italy’s the 1982 World Cup title and the founding of the Italian FA in 1898, PUMA has unveiled a limited edition pair of cleats, the PUMA King Top Italia. Only 898 pairs of the cleat were made.
The new cleat has a classic look expected of the King silo. The brown leather upper pays tribute to the subtle cleat colors of the past but has some embellishment to make these stand out in today’s game. The cuff and inside of the cleat are an azzurri blue while the tongue and Puma logo are in white with gold lettering.
The King logo and “Campioni Del Mondo – MCMLXXXII” is stamped in gold on the outstep of the upper and the tongue of the cleat.
The outsole is white with traditional conical studs in brown and the gold Puma King logo.
Italy beat West Germany 3-1 to win the 1982 World Cup and earn a third star for their team badge. All the goals from the game were scored in the 2nd half with Paolo Rossi, who won that year’s Golden Boot, opened the scoring followed by goals from Marco Tardelli, and Alessandro Altobelli.
