She then jokingly added ‘and obviously it is different from the men’s because we have 3 stars so it looks a little better than their jersey’ pointing to the 3 stars over the US Soccer Federation’s updated crest representing their 1991, 1999, and 2015 Women’s World Cup titles.

With the introduction of the Nike Vapor with Aeroswift material the USA jersey and short being made of this same material.

“The shorts and jersey are the same material and absorb sweat and are so comfortable.  It is a no distraction type of uniform which I love. Normally I’m like thinking about pulling up my socks or pulling down my shorts or adjusting them in a certain way so when we don’t have to think about that while we are playing it is a great addition.”

The 31-year-old then turned her attention to the USWNT’s next challenge, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.  She missed the 2012 Olympics due to a knee injury but is ‘super excited’ to be a part of this team which has a chance to make history.

“(The Olympics) are very important especially for me after missing the 2012 Olympics.  This is a new team even from the one that won the World Cup.  We have a lot of new players but they have integrated so well.  And there has never been a team that has won a World Cup and Olympics back-to-back so that also motivates us to be successful.”

The 2016 USA home and away soccer jerseys will be available at World Soccer Shop starting on Thursday, March 24.
