The Japan Football Association and longtime technical supplier adidas have unveiled new home and away kits with the Asian 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers well underway. The Japanese will debut their new kits starting Thursday in Singapore. A nation extremely passionate about soccer, Japan has always been expressive about their approach to the game. It goes without saying that these new kits are vibrant and stunning.
The newest home kit for the Samurai Blue is a elegant navy blue kit with many horizontal stripes in eleven different gradated shades of blue, representing the eleven different players on the pitch. A red stripe also streaks across the jersey in the center of the design, representing the 12th man. The collar is a rounded v-neck style, with the sleeves having light blue trim.
The adidas three-stripe trim is on the sides under the arms rather than the sleeves, appearing in white. The inner collar of the jersey has a light blue feather with a red stripe going through the quill. The JFA crest on the shirt has a shiny polished effect to make it stand out even further. The home kit comes complete with navy blue shorts and socks with white trim, and a bright blue stripe on the socks.
The away kit has a spectacular white and light blue diamond-based graphic detail on the jersey and sleeves, with the message of the eleven players shining brightly. The navy details like the crew neck collar and sleeve trim make for a great contrast.
Like on the home shirt, the away jersey has the three-stripes on the sides in navy. The image on the inner collar depicts a golden Yatagarasu with a red stripe. In Japanese mythology, this legendary three-legged crow is seen as a divine beast evident of the will of heaven, guidance for humans, and also as a symbol of rebirth. A black Yatagarasu appears on the JFA crest, which also has the special shine effect on the away jersey. The kit also features white shorts and socks with navy details and trim.
The 2016/17 Japan Home and Away kits will be available soon at WorldSoccerShop.com.
